INCEPTION OF CREEKSIDE CENTER JUNE 2004
By Alexia Monroe

Alexia tells the story of the inception of Creekside Center:

In March 2002, I had a session with Cynthia and Dr. Peebles. I asked about my desire to buy a property for the first time in my life. I had no knowledge about real estate, and only a vague idea that I needed space in which to teach Bowenwork. In one hour, Dr. Peebles helped me clarify my needs and crystallize my vision. I saw a place of beauty and serenity, with at least one large room, a living space, and someone else participating in the space. For the first time, an image gelled within me.

Within 24 hours, Kristina Rogers of Tiger Moon Wellness Center phoned and said, "I was just offered a property on Granite Creek that isn't right for me, but I thought of you and wondered if you might be interested". I was amazed, since I had not told her of my session the previous day! So I popped in the car and went to look at it. From the moment I drove up, I knew it was my place. I met with the owners, and without a plan, committed to buying it.

The purchase was not simple, as it was commercially zoned; I was a small fry in the world of business and in no way qualified. But the universe paved the way. Three months later, on the summer solstice, the deal was done.

I sat on the deck by the little creek, gazing up at the 100-year-old cottonwood and the green belt of elms. In the rustling of the leaves, I heard the trees celebrating with me. I was awed by the connection I felt to the land and the building, and felt honored to be its custodian. I vowed to work in partnership for the long-term health of the trees and the property. I asked for the ability to hear its voice in a way I could understand. Little did I know I would receive a prompt reply.

Cynthia began Open Sessions in the main room. During one of the guided meditations, I had an unexpected vision. I felt a swirling energy in the center of the room, moving up through the ceiling and into the sky. It became a tall, undulating woman, and she looked down at me lovingly. She let me know she was the personification of Creekside, and that she was deeply happy about the people gathered there... that during the past five years, when the building was mostly empty, she had felt hollow. Now she felt joyous at the life flowing again, at the fullness. She communicated that her name was Grace and she would be guiding me.

Since that vision, blessings have flowed. Robert Gonzales moved the Prescott Center for Nonviolent Communication into offices on the first floor, and Cynthia Williams moved Insights from Spirit into the top floor. The core group of Associates was established. During our Grand Opening, LaWanna Durbin led the gathering in an invocation, a chant in the Native American tradition: "Calling Medicine -- The holy power to do good for the benefit of all". It seems that Medicine has indeed come through.

Besides our regular offerings, Creekside has hosted a wedding, a rehearsal dinner, parties, and meetings. Often people comment upon entering, "It is so peaceful and beautiful here... there is something special about it." It is joyful for me to hear it, for then I know that the mission statement is being fulfilled:

Providing a harmonious environment Infused with natural beauty To support the vision and purpose Of all who gather within.

We invite you to come visit us, and enjoy the grace that is Creekside Center.
